"I got this!" Golfer Amy Bockerstette

In June of 2019, I wrote a blog about an terrific golfer with Down’s Syndrome named Amy Bockerstette.  She played a hole in a tournament with a professional golfer, Gary Woodland, at Pebble Beach.  Gary was very impressed with her “can do” attitude, and so was the rest of the world.  (To read that blog, click here )

Amy continues to be amazing!  She was just recognized as the first person with Downs’ Syndrome to play in a national collegiate athletic championship.  Amy has found that there are no limits to what she can achieve!  Her famous saying “I got this” continues to inspire her game and other people.  Hew dad is her caddie, and he is especially proud of her.

Such a beautiful story! Here is the CBS report about “Amazing Amy.”

I love this story.  I had 37 years in the classroom, and I taught many students with major disabilities.  I told them every day that the only limits they had were those they put on themselves.  Amy proves that statement is correct.  Amy’s folks have even started a charity to help others,

Cheers to Amy and all the other people who refuse to accept labels with limitations!  Amy is a true inspiration to the world.

I LOVE writing. And I love writing children's books- my newest passion. Although it will be a ton of work, I am looking forward to selling my books.  Since I was a secondary teacher, I know that I have much to learn about elementary students, and I will have to follow my own advice and be my genuine self.  However, I also know that I am passionate about helping kids who have to wear glasses, and that GRADY GETS GLASSES sends a positive message. I am willing to work hard and do all the things that also made me a successful teacher for 37
years. I remain inspired!

Elementary teachers in Western Pennsylvania and beyond - I am willing to come into your classroom in person or as a virtual field trip through a group called Field Trip Zoom.  Check them out!
