Dear Teachers, 

Students go back to school this week and next week in my corner of the world.  This is my 8th year of retirement, and I still miss going to school, which is why I continue to write words of encouragement for those who are still enjoying their teaching careers. 

For the exciting back to school week, I want to remind teachers that boring is out and excitement is in!  Show the students that you are passionate about two things: your subject and teaching.  You will find that enthusiasm is contagious!  Many of my students used to tell me they liked my class because I was so happy about teaching English and Theater, and that happiness made them feel happy.

Remember to be kind, and remember that the parents are sending the very best they have to give. Every child is well-loved by someone.

Wishing you a wonderful year of changing lives and having a positive influence on young lives.

I LOVE writing. And I love writing children's books- my newest passion. Although it will be a ton of work, I am looking forward to selling my books.  Since I was a secondary teacher, I know that I have much to learn about elementary students, and I will have to follow my own advice and be my genuine self.  However, I also know that I am passionate about helping kids who have to wear glasses, and that GRADY GETS GLASSES sends a positive message. I am willing to work hard and do all the things that also made me a successful teacher for 37 years. I remain inspired!
